The standard idler pivot assembly can wear out, bend, or break easily, even with 35” tires. This Extreme Duty Idler Pivot assembly features tapered roller bearings, adding strength and durability. It creates a solid pivot point for your steering components, reducing play and improving control.
Play in the idler pivot can lead to major tie rod issues. A faulty idler pivot allows the idler arm to move uncontrollably, causing drastic tie rod angle changes. In some cases, a bent or failed part can damage your front end, including the idler arm rubbing against the transmission oil cooler lines or motor mount, and breakage of the pitman arm, idler arm, and tie rod. Most tie rod problems come from worn or damaged pitman and idler arms or idler pivot assembly.
