Notes
- If your ball joint press kit doesn't have a die with an ID of at least 1.93” and a depth of at least 0.86”, you need the Upper Ball Joint Installation Tool.
- Pressing the Upper Ball Joint with a die on the cap may damage the cap threads, affecting rebuildability and tightening.
- It's up to you to decide if you want to buy the tool. EMF isn't responsible for cap damage during installation without it.
- The Install Tool for the Lower Ball Joint prevents ring damage when using a suitable Ball Joint Press.

Using your EMF oversized upper ball joint is straightforward. First, make sure you have the right tools. If your ball joint press kit doesn't have a die with an ID of at least 1.93” and a depth of at least 0.86”, get the Upper Ball Joint Installation Tool. This will prevent damage to the cap threads during installation. When installing the lower ball joint, use the Install Tool to avoid damaging the ring.
Once installed, you can adjust the ball joint if you feel movement without removing it from the knuckle. It's a great feature that saves you time and effort.
For maintenance, regular greasing and tightening of the cap are a must. This will maximize the life of your ball joint. Remember, the internal races and pins will wear over time under normal use, but they're covered by the warranty only if there's a manufacturing defect causing premature wear.
If you think your ball joint has a material or manufacturing defect, contact EMF directly. They'll help you figure out the cause and provide a replacement if it falls under the warranty. However, the warranty doesn't cover breakage from misuse or improper installation, so use your ball joint carefully and follow the installation instructions.
